Dr. Gerhard RiesFounder and CEO
Dr. Ries is the founder of DiaMedCare. Dr. Ries has more than 20 years of global life sciences and venture capital experience; both as entrepreneur and as an investor. He has a strong scientific and operational background and held various corporate positions at McKinsey, Novartis, Ciba Geigy and Boehringer Mannheim.

Before founding DiaMedCare, Dr. Ries was Co-founder and Managing Partner of BioMedPartners where he supervised more than 50 investments and served on the board of more than 20 biotech companies.

Before building BioMedPartners, he was Co-founder and Managing Director of InterPharmaLink, a specialized portfolio management consulting company for the pharmaceutical industry.

Gerhard holds a M.S. and a Ph.D. degree in Molecular Biology from the University of Basel and aM.S. degree in Biotechnology from the Fachhochschule Weihenstephan (Munich).

Matthias HieglManaging Director
Matthias Hiegl is a Managing Director of DiaMedCare GmbH, Germany. Furthermore, he is also a Managing Director of Medical Valley GmbH, a leading German cluster organization and incubator.
Matthias Hiegl is a Managing Director of DiaMedCare GmbH, Germany. Furthermore, he is also a Managing Director of Medical Valley GmbH, a leading German cluster organization and incubator. Since 2005 he has been involved both as an investor and operator in business startups including IT, engineering and medical devices.  Matthias particular focus is on business development, market entry scenarios and global business roll outs. Before joining medical valley he was project manager for large national and international infrastructure projects and responsible for cost and contract management.
Jörg SchmidtChief Financial Officer
Jörg Schmidt is the Group CFO of DiaMedCare. Before joining the management team he was an Executive Director in the assurance and financial advisory practice at EY.

During the last 20 years in the professional audit and advisory business he led audits and various financial advisory projects serving both listed multi-national as well as mid-sized and start-up companies, in particular of the Life Sciences Industry and leasing business. As a specialist for Biotech and Medtech companies as well as investment entities investing in Life Sciences Jörg successfully supported and accompanied companies in M&A transactions and IPOs.

Jörg holds a Master degree in Business Administration and Engineering of the University of Darmstadt, Germany. In addition, he obtained certificates as German public auditor, German certified tax consultant and Swiss licensed auditor.
Jürgen DörmeierManaging Director
Jürgen Dörmeier is a Managing Directors of DiaMedCare GmbH, Germany. He received his Diploma as an Economist and has over 20 years of management experience in a variety of sectors including; operations, strategic, financial and administrative.

Mr. Dörmeier was a Managing Director of a Venture Capital Fund and of a Cluster Management Company. He has served as Head of Finance for a variety of start-ups and innovative high-growth companies with particular focus in the Biotech/Life Sciences sectors.

Dr. Erich ReinhardtChairman of the Board
Dr. Reinhardt is the former CEO of Siemens Healthcare, a Siemens AG subsidiary. He started with Siemens in 1983 as the head of Applications Development in Magnetic Resonance. He held a number of diverse management and Board positions during his long career, including heading the Medical Solutions Group and as a member of the Managing Board of Siemens AG.

Dr. Reinhardt is the former CEO of Siemens Healthcare, a Siemens AG subsidiary. He started with Siemens in 1983 as the head of Applications Development in Magnetic Resonance. Dr. Reinhard received his doctorate from the University of Stuttgart and was later named an honorary Professor. His areas of research included; Optical and Digital Image Processing, Pattern Recognition, Automated Cytology and 3D Image Formation for Medical Application. He received an honorary doctorate in 2002 for his life-long dedication to the Sciences from the Technical Faculty of the Friedrich-Alexander University in Erlangen-Nuremberg. The Medical Faculty of the University of Freiburg also awarded him an honorary doctorate in 2005.

He holds numerous memberships in university and industry panels.

Mr. Schächtele is the former Executive Vice President of Deutsche Leasing AG. Spanning nearly 20 years of service, he held numerous sales, marketing and management positions within the company, including as member of the Executive Board. At Deutsche Leasing,

Mr. Schächtele is the former Executive Vice President of Deutsche Leasing AG. Spanning nearly 20 years of service, he held numerous sales, marketing and management positions within the company, including as member of the Executive Board. At Deutsche Leasing, Mr. Schächtele’s roles included Senior Relationship Manager for large customers, partners and financial institutions, heading remuneration efforts, national responsibility for sales and earnings as well as multiple levels of Human Resources.

He began his career in real estate and investment advice and now focuses his attention on real estate development as well as Board activities.

Mr. Kirchner is the founder and owner of Alp Financial Services S.A., a multi family office based in Nyon, Switzerland. Alp Financial manages in excess of 500 million USD in diversified private and public assets.

Mr. Kirchner is the founder and owner of Alp Financial Services S.A., a multi family office based in Nyon, Switzerland. Alp Financial manages in excess of 500 million USD in diversified private and public assets. He has acted on the behalf of lead investors in mining and medical technology investments. In this capacity, he negotiated funding, optimized investment structures and facilitated sales of certain companies. In real estate, Mr. Kirchner has created several funds; including a Swiss commercial property fund, a German residential real estate fund and a Florida special opportunities fund. He was directly involved with the launch and listing of a major Swiss residential real estate fund.

Mr. Kirchner attended St Gallen University and received a Postgraduate degree in Finance at EFFAS as Certified Financial Analyst and Portfolio Manager. He held senior positions over his 25 year career at major international institutions like Deutsche Bank, National Bank of Kuwait, BNP Paribas and Edmond de Rothschild.

Dr. Arnd Kaltofen supports DiaMedCare in the evaluation of the highly innovative healthcare technology developed by its customers. He is a General Partner at VI Partners, an evergreen venture capital fund established by McKinsey & Company and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zürich (ETHZ)

Dr. Arnd Kaltofen supports DiaMedCare in the evaluation of the highly innovative healthcare technology developed by its customers. He is a General Partner at VI Partners, an evergreen venture capital fund established by McKinsey & Company and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zürich (ETHZ) and funded by ten Swiss blue chip companies.  Dr. Kaltofen joined VI Partners in August 2001 to focus on early-stage life science investments.

Before joining VI Partners he built a team dedicated to life science and health care venture capital transactions for KPMG Corporate Finance.  His entrepreneurial experience was accrued through stints at several medical device and e-health start-ups where he held various management positions.  As an MD he worked in a university hospital and in medical research.

In addition to being an MD Arnd also holds an MBA from Kellogg Graduate Business School, USA, and WHU Koblenz, Germany, as well as a Postgraduate Degree in Computer Sciences from TU Munich, Germany.
